Default Can anyone date a Pitt oil engine?

Was looking at a freinds Pitt oil engine today and would like to know what age it would be. Does someone in the UK have the Pitt factory records still???

Hi Gavin,
I don't know if they can be dated. but I am sure the engine you show is a hot bulb engine and is most likely made before 1910 .
There are many similarities to the National and the Watts. I believe at least some of the parts are interchangeable with Nationals. It could even be a badged engine. Your one looks the same as the Watts that lives near me, possibly Watts made them. Watts may have even used National parts as a lot are identical.
Pitt's uncommon but there some about.
Merv.

Hi Gavin the 3 photo's look like the fuel tank that goes inside the base of the engine. On the second photo of the engine, you can see a slot in the base of the Pitt Gavin. Regards from Geoff McCarten.
