Photo Fairbanks Morse 3hp z 1920 help

Hi all!
New to me FM z straight cut gears and am missing the govener/ swing weight
Is there any one that has a good picture/ drawing for the gear, weights, pin throttle rod, I will make my own if I know what it looks like ( don't want to reinvent the wheel just make an 97 year old motor run and me smile)

The bracket in the picture looks to be made of pot metal. This bracket would have been used after 1924 and used a R mag. or later. If your engine is a 1920 it would have used a cast iron mag. bracket with a AB-33 mag. John

Do you want to make the parts because you like making the parts, or do you want to make them simply because you think you can't find them? Shouldn't be too hard to find - try Hit and Miss or wait a bit and someone reading this might respond with a complete governor unit. If you don't have any luck and you really want to make them, I could pull the governor off mine and get all the dimensions but it won't be quick - need to interleave that with the 25 hours a day I spend pandering to the other half's horses.

If your bracket is broken (looks like it is from the picture) it can be fixed using "Lumiweld" or similar aluminum / zinc brazing rod. The bracket itself is zinc. I was able to patch mine back together after someone took the mag off with a sledge hammer. Used pieces of aluminum to fill in the missing pieces. Hit and Miss has a complete, CNC machined aluminum replacement bracket that looks kind of expensive up front but is actually a real bargain considering the machining time in it. And it is probably far better than the original.

Thank you Buzzbill
I don't know what it is that I'm looking for!
I bought some stuf of line that was for a Z and it is way to big.
I looked at hit n miss there diagrams for the govener are more for the 1 1/2 hp
I have looked on line at pictures, but can't seam to find what the govener parts look like that I am missing.
I m not apposition to buying the parts, or making them, just don't know what they are.
This is my first fly weight govener
Thanks again
Mike

Thank you john
So this setup is the one that goes on this motor
It's missing the
Gear
Tube that holds the weights
The weights
A center pin that the weights move
A spring for the center pin
On line I see a flat spring over the 2 weights that a bolt pushes on
A gear ( ? # of tooth, pitch, how dose it mount I see one that threads into the tube)
And I guess these weights are too big LOL
Thanks again for your help
Mike

Mike, If you'll scrap the caked on grease/dirt off the gear to see what the number is, I may have the whole assembly.

Mike ,
According to the manual the 3 & 6 hp Z's are the same with the gear number being ZBA28D. The 1.5-2 hp are different from the 3-6. The number on those gears are ZAA28C .

Hi all
Guess I will have to make a govener for the old girl, can some one tell me the # of teeth there are on the govener, I don't think there's a special ratio as it only runs the fly balls.the gears are strength cut, and don't seam to be available from hit and miss. Main gear #ZBA28FS
Thanks

I worked on a fellows engine yesterday that has the same setup and missing all the same parts except the small gear is there, so basically needs all the same parts. Does anybody know if there are any governor assemblies with straight cut gears that will interchange? Think attached pictures is what is needed.
