Default What is this dynamo for?

Its a Westinghouse 6v generator. dont know if its a dynamo or a generator for a tractor or ?

It's a DC generator. I dunno what it was originally used for but it looks like someone made a wooden pulley for it to be driven with.

Just found out that it is for a 1916-1917 Chalmers Motor Co model 35A or 35B car. Now to find a picture of one of their engines from this era to prove it....

chalmers was an automobile... still a VERRY neat piece.. i see a place on the shelf where it could collect dust....

http://chalmersregistry.com/ is the address of the Chalmers Registry. They were great big cars! Maybe somebody there needs this more than you do.

I looked in the files of the ILL.Reg. A.A.C.A. library. We did not have any lit. showing the engine from 1917-18. In 1915 they used a mag. Here are some adds from the files.

Got it in the mail today. The thing is huge and weighs 26 pounds. And the brushes are in good shape and everything moves like it should. Going to refurbish it and get the alluminum polished up and relist it on some classic car sites...
