Default Generator 45.OEM-15R/28737R wires go where?

Hello All

I purchased a backup power genset for my shop and home last year and am now in the process of hooking everything up. The generator model number is 45.OEM-15R/28737R and the two switches I have are model number OTCU150-C/15G and OTCU150G19G.

The first switch got lost in shipment so they sent me another one and four months later the first switch showed up. The people I bought the switch from don't want to mess with the return so I have a choice.

The high voltage hookups I have figured out and have parts ordered for but the interconnect from the switch to the generator is a puzzle.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this?

Trying to get cummins power systems to give up the information about this setup is like trying to get an elephant to give back the peanut...

For two wire start. Look on TB-2. Wires line up like this

Gnd goes to GND in generator

2 has a jumper to B+. Wire from B+ goes to B+ at genset.

RMT goes to RMT at genset

Should also have a jumper from 5 to 6 at TB2

Hello All... Sorry, I posted and ran last year but what was supposed to be a couple weekends installing a generator turned into a major life sidetrack. Now that things are more or less back on track I am back to generator installation. Thank you to Billy J Shafer for the wire hookup information. I will be using that here in the near future.

I have a few questions to sort out before I start digging holes and running wire.

The first question is. I need to get an Operators Manual & Parts Catalog for my setup but am a bit confused as to which one to get. The generator has a model number of 45.OEM-15R/28737R and serial number of C870876838

Am I correct in assuming that I need an Operators Manual & Parts Catalog for an ONAN EK-EM Series Generator Begin Spec C? And if so can someone point me to where I can find one for sale?

The second question, is there an Operators Manual & Parts Catalog for the two switches I have? Their model numbers are OTCU150-C/15G and OTCU150G19G. Not sure which one I am going to use yet.

The third question is, can I remove the direct drive fan from this setup and use something quieter, maybe a clutch fan? The fan is freaking loud compared to the actual generator and engine running. I would rather not have to build a sound proof enclosure as well.

Thank you for any information. I will be posting pictures as the mounting progress begins.

45.0EM-15R/28737R

Your EM is a spec. "R" just so you know when you look up manuals.

Wow... Just like that, I am up to my ears in paperwork! Thank You for the link Kpack! I coupled your twinslan link with the Onan Manuals Index sticky and found all the manuals listed therein.

Thank You Nothingbutdarts for that bit of info. I was sure the first letter of the serial number would be the spec they refer too... Ya learn something new every day.

You will need that fan. Unlike a car that is moving the fan is the only way to cool it. When a car is moving the fan is only used when stopped. The car moving through the air cools the engine. When the power is out and only you have power. The fan noise will not seem that bad.

Like Billy sez, you need that fan. It moves air through the radiator to cool the engine AND moves the air that just passed through the generator.
If the noise is bothersome, ducting can be your answer, Might consider insulation and baffles too but it has to move that air.

As long as you are downloading manuals, get the installation manual, will answer questions you haven't even thought of yet. Get the gaseous fuel instruction too.
