I have more then enough vacuum, as i can stall the engine with too much fuel if i wanted to. I am in the tightest part of the carb, so the vacuum is a peak. Maybe my natural gas is just low octane.

Ya think?

Because that's the way Onan does it. But what do they know?

I used the upper boss in the carb on my 4.0 CCK for the LP stub.
Also when I get the time, the electronic ignition system I am going to use/design will uses COMMONLY available parts that most likely WILL NOT come out of ONAN parts boxes or salvaged engines.
I just have to get ahead of the work other people are showing up with. A guy brought me a 150 amp Lincoln A.C. welder/ 4000 watt A.C. generator that he bought as a GOOD unit. He needed to use it and could not get it to work. I found the rotor OPEN. I need to get it apart and see what a re-wind will cost.

Just so all know, all the ignition parts i used are very common parts. Very easy to find, and cheap to buy. All parts total well under 60 dollars, since they are onan parts under an 1 hour to do ignition upgrade..

Did this require you to set the timing? I did not see any mention of that. I also wonder if this system could be a used as a speed sensor?.

That's the beauty of this - no more need to adjust the timing, which was always a pain.

Thanks for the thread, it is very helpful. Looking at my governor shaft, it seems I can just remove the two screws holding the fork on, and I can swap the governor shafts betwixt the two covers without the grinding and welding. Or am I missing something?

Just swapping the shafts will depend on the configuration of your original. There were some variations at the bottom end or the shaft. Some were made to fit in a small needle bearing, some for a larger needle bearing, and some used no bearing. You might get lucky and it fits right in. Pay attention to the small ball bearing that goes in the hole, under the shaft as it is easily lost. Ask me how I know...
