Default 16x7 enclosed trailer

I have a 2006 Lark enclosed trailer Has a side entry door. I want to put a roll out 16 foot canopy on it. I know I will have to put a wheel on top of door for canopy to rub on . I put shorter canopy on behind door I'll lose about 3 feet of canopy. Any of you have canopy's on your enclosed trailers ? What's your thoughts on this I know there expensive . I was told there heavy and wonder if I would have problems Local RV dealer wants 1000 and maybe more to purchase and install.

Ronny,

Our first enclosed trailer didn't have an awning. A friend thought I was goofy for intalling one. Then we had a rainy day and he saw the light. Our current toy hauler has an awning, I wouldn't be with out one.

Over here we use the Fiamma range of awnings, ours is a Fiamma Caravanstore Zip, 2.8 metres wide.

We lost that one in a flash storm at Nuenen, got a replacement.

Depending on how tall you trailer is, you might have issues with the door clearing the canopy. Unless you have the canopy straight out(high enough) to clear the door.

Does the trailer have the channel already installed along the roofline to attach the awning? If not, you'll have to buy it and remove the trim screws and install the channel first.

Putting the actual awning on is not a hard job, especially only 16ft. Depends on the model you get, but slip the awning into the channel and then mount the legs to the trailer sides. I helped install a 24ft'r on buddies trailer years back.

My awning is 18 yrs old and still going strong, only a couple small pinholes. It is a Coleman/Faulkner. I too have the roller on the door corner, but my trailer is a 40ft gooseneck with enough height to clear the door with the awning still at a down angle.

Find an RV salvage yard, or check craigslist for someone parting out an RV.

Anything used will likely be used up and not worth the effort. Plus the fact it will be difficult to dismantle off the trailer and get up on yours without tearing the material(and then your ).

I did some googl'n and found a 13' roll out awning for just under $400. If I recall my 24" was like $1100 back in 1997.

You will need this also: awning channel

I got a 18' one from a salvage yard that was on a 2 year old camper that was in a crash and totaled by the insurance company. Paid $100 for it , I had to remove it.
Nothing wrong with it as the crash was on street side of camper
