Default Onan ccka-s/1627g generator and welder starting issue

I recently purchased a lincwleder 225 with a generator and it has an onan engine. It's about 22 degrees in Ohio right now. It uses 2 35 series batteries in parallel I have one bigger then a 35 series and one 35 series battery. I know one handle you pull is the choke and the other is the fuel? Would you push in or pull out to cut the fuel on? Is there another fuel switch for it? It just has a push starter and will start up with starting fluid but then dies out shortly after.

1. What is the proper way to start this engine?

2. Is there anything I need to know, tips tricks etc?

Not much on welders. But I have never seen a push/pull fuel system. Can you post a picture of it.

There is one that is the choke and is labeled choke(off to the left I believe) and there is also another on that is red in this image. The one on my engine pulls outwards for the choke, and what may be the fuel goes up and down. The choke on mine is right near the carburetor off to the right, and in this picture(it has a red handle) moves up and down.

If you look at the first picture with the red handle that is how it is in mine, it doesnt go to the carburetor. It will fire up with starting fluid, and will die out shortly after. Is there a fuel switch somewhere.

The one that goes up and down. Is the manual prime lever. Use it to pump up the system. Then push it back down. Pump may be out. Remove the fuel line from pump to carb. Work the lever. You should get gas out of the pump.

Okay thank you so much, is there a actual fuel switch somewhere on the unit?

Not from Onan. Most just had a valve at the fuel tank. Off/On valve.

I would remove the glass fuel bowl assembly There should be a small screen in the top. They do get clogged at times. Good idea to just take the whole thing apart and clean. Be careful with the glass easy to break.
