Default free honda eb6500

So I was offered a eb6500 Honda generator from the local fix it place.
They said when it warmed up it smoked under load really bad so they did not want to repair it and gave it to the fix it shop.

So I picked it up and had to get a couple of things for it because the pull starter and air cleaner were robbed off of it before I got there to pick it up.
I started it and they said it smoked and it did so I shut it down and thought I should check the oil. When I did I unscrewed the dipstick and oil came gushing out! Not mixed with gas but oil. I figure about 2 1/2 quarts of oil. How they ever got that much in the engine, who knows? but it could explain why the vale cover bolt was loose.
I drained all of it and put 1 quart of new oil in it and after a few minutes running it stopped smoking and runs pretty good. Maybe a valve adjustment and a new plug. People should not touch things that they have no idea how they work.

I gather up and fix generators all the time . Its a thing that works out well for me , Many dont even get checked by the dealers for various reasons they just sit there abandon after a while . Let me say that a needle valve will leak gas and it fills up the sump. Keep a eye on the gas. The original problem could have been this or that and the solution could be that simple.. Generally that full of oil you cant turn the engine over and the muffler will billow out smoke for 10 minutes after it does start Good luck maybe you hit the Jack pot

Likely caused by how tough they make it to get at the dipstick / filler port. Somebody tipped gen to add oil. But free is good.

I ran it today after I cleaned to carb some, with my 5hp 220v compressor connected to it and ran the cabinet blaster for 3 hours. Verdict no smoke. Ran without a hitch. It's a good generator.
