Here is a pic of my running Toro engine. This one is S# 06338. I bought this one at the Canandaigua Pageant of Steam back in the mid 1990's. I'm getting the disassembled Toro out today and will start putting it back together. Maybe I'll have fire in the cylinder over the weekend.

"Funny how they show up." This goes for more than just Toro engines. Seems like every time I pick up something I think will be unique at the shows I attend the very next show i go to there are 2 or 3 of them sitting there on exhibit! Murphy's Law.

I've seen several Toro engines but wasn't aware that they were used on Planet Jr garden tractors.

Does anybody have parts for one? When I taught mechanics 25 years ago a kid brought one to school. He made a mess out of it but I kept some of it.

Hopefully ....Here are a couple of pic's of my Toro # 2639. I only tried to put pic's on here 1 other time & it didn't work. The large gas tank seems to be original,it has 2 compartments,1 for gas & the other for oil that was for whatever machine it was on. That is only a guess as one side of the tank had a little oil in it when I got it. Both side's of the tank have small screw in brass covers on them.

Doug I believe what you have is mower engine.I have the engine and dual tank off a mower that was on e-bay.The seller said if it didn`t sell he would scrap it,I`m not a fan of removing engine`s from original equipment ,but it was better than losing the whole thing. It was too far to pick up and the seller agreed to ship the engine. It is serial number ME3859.I have a picture of the whole mower but I can`t get it to load so if you P.M. me I will send it to you.Chuck

Something i have noticed,In the one's that have relied with a Serial #, most seem to have a 2 letter prefix to the serial #. Mine has no letter's before or after the # & no other misc. letter's or #'s on the tag.

Doug I had to go look at my engines to see the serial number and neither of my oldest Toro`s (the ones with the Bosch mags)had the engine letter prefix on the tag. These are pictures of the tank off the mower, the two caps for oil and gas are different.I don`t know if this is original or not.Chuck
