Realized I hadn't voted yet; done.

If a small tangent is acceptable: how do keep a whistle under your canopy from giving you a headache?

Cut a hole and stick through the top? Should work, but not sure I want a hole in the canopy.

Get a deeper pitch whistle to accompany the existing one? If so, I like the excuse to get another, but better finish some other items on the list first.

Acetylsalicylic Acid? But then an ounce of prevention.......

Is this a "status symbol", among "steam folks"? Just curious.

Picked up this 8" Buckeye 3 chime this summer (Assuming you measure just the body and not total height- don't wanna cheat :-) ). Cleaned it up and just waiting on the valve I ordered. Hoping it sounds nice on the Case this summer.

No measurements handy, but probably within "normal" range of a 19HP traction, yet a distinctly larger one could still seem in "normal" range.

It does make the dog bark....

Picked up a 6" Lonergan valve-less chime last Spring, ironically, a half mile from my house. Conversations one day from a friend introduced me to his neighbor that had it.

Also picked up a kinda tired 3" Powell hooter last summer from Craigslist. Didn't really need it but bought it anyway, as the price was right. Cleaned it up & made it shine, and put it on a wood base. Ended up using it as a barganing chip to buy my Tyfon 300DVE boat horn last Fall.

Weld Engineer,
The whistles are sized by the diameter of the bell. Your Buckeye is a 3 inch chime whistle. You can go to utube and type in "Steam Whistle Buckeye 3 inch" or try this link

to hear my 3 inch buckeye on steam. Your whistle would sound the same. Jeff K.

I am happy to say I now have all the 3-chime Crosby's from 1.5 inches to 12 inch. The 12 inch came from The American Brake Shoe Company of Mahwah NJ. Jeff in Mentor
