Default Jacking up a Forklift?

I traded in the old Clark forklift for a newer forklift last fall, got to use the new forklift 3 times before the starter died. Of course the starter is way down at the bottom of engine and its a hard tire machine so there is only like 3" of clearance. So my choice is jacking up the forklift and putting it on blocks, or pulling the intake, and maybe exhaust manifolds(I need to go back and look) and trying to go in from the top. Any suggestions on doing this without dying?
