Default Fairbanks ZC 118

Hello,i just aquired a FM ZC 118 yesterday and had some questions.
Should the oil level be in the middle of the sight glass and do i fill oil at plug
next to mag unit? Should oil be a straight 30w?

The middle is fine. I tell my customers to use the same oil in a FM they use in their car. I like multi grade detergent.

That's an old dip stick engine. Did you get it with it? They screwed in the top cover.

Thank you Reed. I did hook up to propane and it started right up. Do you know when they quit making the dip stick engine? No idea the age of this.
And no,i did not get a dip stick with it.

The top has probably been replaced as the boss that they all have is were they drilled and tapped for the dip stick to screw into. You could retrofit a dipstick to yours. Can you drill and tap the hole? I can send you pictures of the dipstick and one could be fab'd up easy andade to look OEM.
