Default Engine Starters for Large Engines

Does anyone know where you can buy an engine starter using a 12 volt starter and a friction pulley against the flywheeel? Thanks.
Bill

You will probably have to build one. My friend and I are building one from a Briggs&stratton with a gear reduction on it. I have seen these work and they are slick.

Check with the vintage motorcycle crowd, I've seen them used to start old board track racers & drag bikes, looked like production pieces.

Here is one I saw several years ago at a show that I thought was pretty neat:

I thought it was a real slick design. One thing I really liked was the ability to move from engine to engine and that it didn't have to be permanently mounted to the engine. Most of the parts can be rounded up at an auto salvage yard pretty easily.

I made one using a 12v starter motor and a small rubber tyre . A couple of mistakes so it is back to the drawing board .I like the idea of using a B&S motor with reduction gear box . My engine had 32 inch Diam flywheels and a lot of compression ,that 12v motor did not have enough guts to do the job plus the rubber tyre diam was to big . It will be ok for smaller engines .
