I was by there a couple of weeks back, and the fighter jet was dismounted out front. What are the plans for that one?

the 104 start fighter that was standing in front of the museum has been taken down to be restored just for display.
it was soda blasted and it now awaits the final cleaning and painting.
i will see if i have some pictures of it .

and just a few more pictures

the first pic is of the norseman the second picture is of a flyer that they gave out to promote the lancaster and i had it signed by all the guys who flew the lanc over to england back in 2014.
the last two pictures are of the nose art on the lanc for the summer of 2016

first two pictures are of the lysander the 3rd picture is of one of the engine mounts for the bolingbroke bomber and the last picture is of me with the pilot that took me up for the first and only flight i have ever had.
the plane is stearman biplane and the pilot is one of only a handful in the world who fly the lancaster bomber. it was fun and i plan on flying again this year.

When I was a kid in the 50s, early 60s, we used to see those fighter jets quite often. They seemed to do low level flights across the countryside. I remember seeing USAF jets fly over the farm quite low. They must have come out of the Buffalo area, which is only a few miles SE. Maybe practicing radar avoidance?
Hearing sonic booms was a regular event back then. Thinking back, some of those must have come from the Arrow test flights. I was quite young, but recall a lot of talk about one especially harsh boom that knocked out a lot of the plate glass windows in some storefronts. That was either in Paris or Dundas. There was a real outcry, and that put an end to the sonic booms. If that was from the Arrow, I think they moved the tests flights to the north. I always thought they were kinda neat!

I can't get down there. Hopefully there will be some stuff flying on Friday, as I am not far from the airport, as the Lancaster flies!
Please send us some snapshots.

the boly is moving along slowly but surely , the engines are in the u.k being rebuilt as we speak .
the third picture is of the lysander , not much happening with it right now but the museum has just located a complete casting for the landing gear so hopefully it will soon be getting put back together.
the last picture is of the 104 start fighter that was mounted in front of the museum , as you can see it has been cleaned and is awaiting some paint.

all these photos were taken last saturday.

Chuck,
Does the museum have a Mosquito, or parts of one tucked away? Those things were built right in this area. I remember a controversy about one a few years back. It was in Calgary, and I think the city tried to get rid of it in a less than open fashion and it was to go to Britain.

I talked to the guys at the museum and they have never had a mosquito ....... But i bet they would like one
I was just at the museum and the lancaster has the number 4 engine removed due to a seized water pump so it will be out of service for a while.
With the lancaster down some of the other planes will see more passenger service. Such as the canso and the stearman.
