Default First Snow

Well, we have had a couple of light dustings in the Hamilton area this fall. Today's was the first where we had to get the shovels out. Only a few inches and it is quite light. The wind is up now and blowing it around a bit. It is a northwest wind so the road north of the village was getting blown in an hour or so back when I came through there. It just started snowing again.
T'is the season really, so it is all good.

You just had to do the dance and say that bad word didnt ya.I have not had to shovel the snow this early in the winter season for a few years now wich i have not missed.I also noticed their are even some of those leaves i did not get raked up (again)under the fresh dump of snow this morning.2017 has been a interesting year weather wise to say the least a mild summer and a extended summer into almost the late fall.Atleast winter knows when it should be here....finally

You guys down in the temperate zones have it so tough!
Up here in the Gateway to the North, we had 7" Nov 18, but that disappeared.
Had a few dustings since, until late last Thur.
It snowed, hard Fri & Sat, till Sunday PM.
Figured I had better clean up, so got old "Cyclops" going.
I had to drag the snow down to the end of the drive, because there was no frost in the ground.
I measured 17" on one vehicle.
Glad I did, because Mon it was -26C.
Tues it snowed like hell ALL day.
Cleaned that up no problem yesterday on nice frozen ground.
Nice and sunny now, but -20C.
We have been spoilt the last few years.

Haven't heard anything yet.
I'm sure we need more snow yet.
What we got has settled a lot and nothing was frozen.
This cold snap I'm sure has helped.

Went to town today and Callander Bay is froze.
Nippissing will probably be as well.
Blew a little snow this evening and any ground under unpacked snow is loose.
Could be a while before swamps and cricks are froze, even with this cold weather.
It's amazing how a few inches of unpacked snow will insulate the ground.

I was supposed to go to Hamilton tonight. It snowed all afternoon and the road was crap, so stayed home.

Some one said that they have been sliding around Rouyan/Noranda for a good 2 weeks. Some areas there have 2 feet of snow.

Good ol Dunville got that lack effect. I think we got a bit more than Hamilton did over the course of last week. Mind you 75% of it melted today and I hear the rest of it should be gone by the end of tomorrow.

Yep. We had snow. Now we don't have snow. Not much anyway.
There is at least one farmer who does not have his corn off. He is the last one every year. His truck just jake-braked by heading into the elevator. He better keep the combine running steady while he can.

Well I just got about six inches last night. (First measurable snow of season.) So take heart, more is on the way east...

Just read this morning they are warning people to stay off the sled trails as it is not safe yet.
We had mild weather first of the week which I think helped bring the snow down so the frost can get in.
Was over to Sudbury yesterday and all lakes and ponds are froze over.
Supposed to be cold next few days with little snow.

Not so bad here on Christmas morning. I was just out and shoveled a bit. The neighbour came across and blew our the entrance where the snow plough had filled in. It is blowy so the light snow is moving around. Sun is shining and it is actually not bad.
