C.O. Smith Estate Auction

To be held onsite at 150 South Main St (Route 38) in the village of Newark Valley.

Clark "C.O." Smith was a well-known and well-liked mover and shaker in the farm history passion throughout the Southern Tier of NY and Northern PA. An IBM engineer in bib overalls. Could fix anything and did. A stalwart of the Newark Valley Historical Society, the Depot, and Bement-Billings farmstead. It is a privilege to offer his lifetime collection to include:

Very Early “Favorite” barn thresher mounted within a storage and shade display trailer—NY registration

Loads of other farm antiques such as: McCormick walking corn planter, ancient wooden corn husker, “Treman” wooden corn sheller (Ithaca NY) and others. “Banner” root cutter, wooden hand washing machine, washtubs and stands, barrel churn and other types, wooden dump rake, walking grain drill, pedal grindstones, scythes, snaths, and cradles-many, 20 barn pulleys, horse eveners, neck yokes, jockeys, collars, and blankets; ox yokes, trunks, yard pumps, 7+ cross-cut saws, cream separators, forage cutter, wooden barrels. Blacksmith tools, forges, box wood stove, Warm Morning wood stove, antique drill press, No. 9 Oliver typewriter, Ireland drag saw, barn door track and hangers, chicken crates, grain baggers, midget racer pedal car, sedan pedal car, vintage shotgun ammo and powder, farm history smalls of all kinds.

Gas Engines: 2hp John Deere by Root & VanDerVoort, Fairbanks Morris Z, single cylinder Maytag, twin cylinder Maytag, Fairmont gas engine, original Maytag gas-powered washer complete-one owner-Grandma Smith’s, 5 gallon ice cream maker from Pat Mitchell’s, 4 cylinder Koehler 100v DC light plant, Delco 32v DC light plant and motor. Firestone and Evinrude outboards, gas trolling motor. Magnetos, flat belts. Many small air-cooled engines and parts—all kinds.

Implements: 3 point including 12in posthole digger, 5ft back blade, spring drag, scoop, 6ft back blade, potato digger. Ford #59 sickle mower, Dearborn sickle mower, Massey Harris 2 bottom plow complete, Farmall 2-way plows, JD Single plow, home built 4ft bush hog for Jeep with PTO, antique kicker tedder, International 2 bottom plow. 17ft x 70in flat utility trailer-NY registration, firewood hauler, heavy 4-wheel cart, 2-wheel cart.

13 Walk Behind Tractors: original Roto-Tiller model B-1-6, original “Roto-ette” single rubber tire, Bolens tiller, Planet Jr. with flat belt PTO, engine within wheel cultivator, Frazer tiller, 8 hp Roto Hoe + 3 more very early Roto Hoes, Simar Geneve, another “Roto Tiller” brand. 4 Gravely tractors, one rotary mower, and 3 snow implements + many Gravely parts

Garden Tractors: Cub Cadet 102, (2) 126, 129 & lots of Cub parts and attachments; Case 190 with rotary and sickle mowers, Montgomery Ward 16 w/ tiller. mower deck and cab, Case Ingersoll, Agway 16/44. Mowers-5 foot flail, Yazoo rotary, 2 Woods RM59, First walk behind power mower owned by NVCSD.

Tools & Misc: Craftsman cast iron table saw, air compressor. Come-alongs, chains, binders, clevises, ropes, loading and hauling tackle of all kinds, electric lift chair, 40ft wood extension ladder, kero heaters, gas mud pump, heavy work benches, beam scale, lumber-some cherry + some extra wide. Tires, firewood, chainsaws, upright freezer, taps and dies, nuts and bolts, air bumper jack + jacks of all kinds, bicycles, fishing tackle, full line of hand tools and of course 600 8rpm synchronous motors. C. O. had multiples of everything!

Selling For A Neighbor: McCormick OS6 orchard tractor, original, runs good; Cast 435L 4wd tractor 2cyl diesel with back blade; 6 wheel “Max” ATV needs work, 5x12 flat utility trailer-bill of sale, Greenwood wood fired heating boiler.
