Default Onan 8kW Diesel

Not sure of the model, but it looks like a good deal for somebody close by.

"Onan 8KW Diesel Generator. Low hour machine. This is a older unit that was taken off a fire truck. "

My guess is that it is a DJB, and that it is 6, not "8kW".

It looks like a 6Kw DJB. If it was close to me, it would be gone. Well.... it would be gone assuming it ran and produced power. Trying to find a reasonably priced diesel up here in the Northeast is difficult. It's one of those things where you are just better off buying new if you really need one.

missing at least one foot cushion - sent the seller a note to grab that if it's still around.

Its 500 miles away from me. Not sure I want to go down a little in power for a diesel. 6500 vs 6000 isn't a lot.

Des moines is around 625 mi away for me.

My little LK runs fine and powers the house in emergencies (of course only one electrical load at a time).

I thought about stepping up to a 6.5 NH for more power...but a diesel would be fun. Not sure about the noise factor though. My LK is pretty darn quiet and I am afraid the DJB would wake the dead.

I've got a pair of 6.5NH and would like a little more power. A 7.5JB would be awesome. But that 6kw diesel if in fact its only a 6kw still be interesting to play with a diesel.

They are loud as any air cooled diesel will be. You can quiet the exhaust note, but not the mechanical noise. That said, I bought one of these off a fire truck and am pleased with the way it runs and the low fuel consumption. A short video of mine running here: https://youtu.be/C3ND7zgFbAs

$500 is a steal for a late model low hour , firetruck takeout DJB , a bit of tidying up and it would go for $2K in my market. Being an 1800 rpm machine the noise is nowhere as objectionable as a 3600rpm air cooled diesel. Someone should jump on this one. Cheers Dan
