This is a picture from Facebook; what would the hose plumbed to the track frame be for -- feed water?

marion made some biggg shovels, it makes sense feed hose for boiler.....

yes that is for feed water. the line went up thru the middle of the center shaft
with a swivel coupling. the idea being that you didn't have to stop to take on
water
