Photo Original Pope Motorcycle Seat

I picked up this seat a couple weeks ago. I have been doing some research on it and think it must be towards the end of production. I am trying to determine the rarity and value. You can see the Pope Logo in the second pic. I can't imagine many have survived in this condition. Measures 11 1/2 x 13 in.

Thanks,
Nathan Grissom

Jay Leno has a couple of Pope's. Might need an original seat.

Looks like a nice survivor seat. Just an FYI. Pope also made bicycles. The seat post attachment looks a little small for a motorcycle. Could this be for a bicycle?

That is a bicycle seat. You can determine the value at www.thecabe.com if you go to the for sale column there will be similar seats posted. You will need to register for access. Good luck!

Here is a few pics for reference. The mounting bracket is 3/4 in. ID. It just has a piece of pipe in it. By looking at the pics on Google it looks like a motorcycle seat to me. The bicycle seats pictured of that era had a spring in front. It measures almost 12 in wide and 13 in long which is larger than any early bicycle seat I have ever seen. Or it could be either one Pope's first motorcycles were basically a bicycle with an engine so until I find someone that specializes in Pope products I still don't know.

I don't know if there is a way to contact the guys at American pickers. But I think they know a lot about old bicycles and motor cycles? Seems like on one of their episodes they were dealing on some Pope stuff? Bob
