Default Onan MDJE Motor Mounts

I bought a used MDJE 7.5kw generator a couple of years ago. I've managed to get it working just recently (with the help of this forum). The generator starts easily since I had the high-pressure injector pump rebuilt. I also put in rebuilt injectors and adjusted the valves.

Though the generator runs very good, it does vibrate to some extent. It may just be the nature of a 2 cylinder diesel mounted in a boat. Could it be I need to replace the motor mounts??

The rubber on the motor mounts look very good and are still pliable. However, the bolts that pass through the motor mounts seem too long. there is a small gap beneath the hex head of each bolt. Is this an issue?

gap adjustable by adding or removing washers. they are thin with a hole bigger than the sleeve around bolt. when you tight bolt,it hold the sleeve and obtain a gap between steel washer and rubber washer.;engine free to shake.

Do I have to get a wrench on the nuts on the underside of the oil pan for the purpose of backing out the engine-mount bolts so that I can add washers? Is there something magical about buying the washers from Onan? Would Home Depot washers fit?

The threaded parts should screw into the base so you shouldn't need a wrench on the bottom. If you can find washers at HD with an inner diameter big enough to cover the sleeve inside that would work.

Thanks for the info. It is great news that I don't have to tip the genset over to put a wrench on the under side. This should be a trivial task.
