Default TD14 is it 6 Volt or Twelve Volt?

I am going to try to star a n International TD14 in a estate. The 2 batteries are missing. One site said it took a 6 volt battery. I assumed it was two 12 volt batteries. What does it take two 6 volt batteries or two 12 volt batteries?

It is a 12 volt, one 12 volt battery or two 6 volt batteries hooked in series.

If it has a large battery bix, it also may have used 2 - 12 volt batteries in parallel, if the batteries were undersized for the tractor starter load requirements.

It has a place for 2 batteries. I may have a picture of it. I will check to see if I have a picture.

I would go for the 2 - 12 volt/parallel set up. Two 6 volt in series would work but price???

I looked on my phone and I don't have a picture and the tractor is about 100 miles away. I will get a picture later. Would it hurt to try two 12 volt batteries? I don't know where to look to find the voltage?

The tractor is stored inside and hasn't been started in years. I drained old gas out of it. Need to clean the 1.5 gallon tank. The owner passed on last January and he was looking for a blade for it. It has a winch and hydraulic cylinders for a blade. What is this worth if it runs?

Two 12 volt batteries will work, just make sure the positive post are hooked together and the negative posts are hooked together (parallel).

Most farm tractors use two 12 volt batteries for 12 volt systems. Our four wheel drive tractors use three 12 volt batteries for 12 volt systems.

We had a TD-14 that we started with a plug in jumper cable from our diesel pickup. Both the TD-14 and the pickup had plug ins that we plugged the jumper cable into. We still start our Galion grader with a TD-14 engine that way.

It doesn't take much to turn the IH engines over when they on switched to gas. The older IH TD-14 diesel were started with a hand crank.
