Did you pull the main jet out of the carburetor body and clean the small holes in the nozzle?

Yup, everything is out except the slow speed jet, need to get the right size screw driver for it.

get a killawatt meter home depot or lowes etc. cheap meter but it measures Herz. It will also let you plug into house power and plug one item at a time into the meter and measure the amp load or watts that one item uses, this it great for loading up our small gensets for testing purposes. Luck, Ben

It lives!!!!! Just needed a good carb cleaning to free up everything!

Makings 128Vac No load, drops down to 117-120Vac with the AC running, fridge on and Microwave going! I might try and turn this down just a tad.

Just need to get some new spark plugs, change the oil/filter and add a fuel shut off valve and she should be all set. Thanks for all the help guys!

Adjust it by the Hz at load and no load. This is more important then the actual voltage.

Congrats by the way!!

When I pick up free engines I don't even bother trying to start them anymore, they never do. First thing I do is pull the carb and clean it . They always have gum, dirt or water in them, then they start. Welcome to the wonders of ethanol loaded gasoline. Use gas stabilizer or you may have to clean it again if you let it sit for few months.

Once I was cleaning a carb over a 18 inch pizza pan to catch the gas. Was about 1/4 inch of gas in the pan, when I came back ~15 minutes later I saw a watery layer in bottom of pan that was not there before. The ethanol had sucked the humidity out of the air, thing was it was summer but not oppressively humid.

So looks like everything is all set, got some fresh oil in it and i put a fuel shut off in line. I was planning on letting it run itself out of gas ever time I am going to put it away for a while in hopes the carb will not gel up to much. Is there any concern with doing that?

Shouldn't be a problem. Check that load is dis-connected beforehand.

Disconnect the 120V load ( shut off circuit breaker) first. Shutting down with high load supposed to stress the $225 AC voltage reg, sometimes to failure.

I always like to run with no load for a few minutes anyway for cool down. Shutting off the gas makes a nice cool down timer.
