Default Kipor IG2000. Please Help!

Hi all.

I have acquired a non starter Kipor ig2000p generator from an old friend. He said it was fine one minute then when it ran out of fuel it would not start again. He sent it to a repairer who said they could not find the part (whatever part that was) I decided to buy it for very little money in the hope it was not too expensive to repair. I noticed straight away that the spark plug was missing, but trying to obtain a replacement is proving rather difficult. The service manual states a Bosch R6 SUF & the shop manual states a & UR5 spark plug.
I have tried searching for these on the web but lm not having any joy. Even asked the local auto suppliers and they cannot tell me. Hope somebody on here can actually tell me what spark plug l need.

Thanks all

Running out of fuel and then not starting, sounds like possible fuel issue as well. I don't know about the kipors but the Honda version has a fuel pump that has to be primed after running out of gas. Usually it only takes a couple of pulls of the rope and it primes itself and fires off. The kipor ... not certain

Hi Richard. Thanks for that info, but think l read somewhere that the portable kipor is a real pain to restart after running out of fuel. I will update once my spark plug arrives in the post.

This may be of some help if theres no spark. Test voltages of ignite & resistances, also Kill switch may be faulty. Picture olso of the fuel pump, To check if theres fuel in the carby theres a drain in the bottom which can be opend to see if it actualy has fuel.

Hi all. Here is the latest update for my Kipor ig2000. I installed the new sparkplug and there's no spark. I have removed the ignition coil for testing. Everything seems fine elsewhere so will update you once l have completed the coil test. Also l will test the electrical side for ohms & voltage. Thanks

The first thing to check is the kill switch on the fuel tap by un pluging it, then see if you have spark.

This is what I do to test the ign coil, using a capacitor & 6V. As you toggle the switch (or just flick the wires together) you should get a spark.

The capacitor can be any .15uf 250V Polyester type, or a common points ignition capacitor.
