40 mm Heinrici revisited
Here are a couple more photos of the little 40 mm-bore Heinrici engine that David R. posted last week including a clear shot of the retailer's nameplate (Fritz Kohler of Leipzig, Germany). The Fritz Kohler co. supplied these engines to universities for operating small machinery, laboratory devices, etc. I'm also including an image showing Heinrici motors in the 1905 F. Kohler catalog together with a photo from the same catalog showing their workshop with a Heinrici motor on a bench at the very back of the room. Kohler and other German firms supplied many US universities with lab equipment up until the first World War; our own university has several of these old catalogs. This engine also has the number "488" and letter "F" on its baseplate and a snifter valve which looks a little different from those I've seen on other Heinrici engines.
