Default 22 hp Gaar Scott

I found a old Gaar Scott in the middle of pasture. Mostly complete except stack. It says 22hp on plate. The fellow wants to sell, but his price seems high... My grandfather had a Gaar Scott but it was a non traction unit. What is something like this worth?

Interesting......might you have some pictures? Is the engine complete? Butt strap or lapseam boiler?

Lots of questions....pictures do wonders!

Thanks
Beth

Thumbs up Re: 22 hp Gaar Scott

Chances are that it's an old lapseam boiler if it's a 22. I've seen a pic of an older 22 HP G/S in your neck of the woods, bet it's the same engine.

What's asking price? It's kinda hard to say whether it's high or not, in today's crazy market.

I've got a 1911 22 HP Gaar myself, they're a nice engine.

Just cast a new bull gear for the 22/25 Gaar Scott. There was a little accident with the origional one...

Yep, Case60, you're correct about which engine. The boiler is completely rotten but it is basically all there. It'd be an interesting tractor restored, but I agree that he wants too much for what's there.

As much as the guy wants to sell it, he was VERY clear he didn't want the exact location advertised (just his contact info) - he's caught guys trying to strip parts off it before.

Yep! That's the engine I've seen pics of before. Looks like a good candidate for a restoration...if one wants to spring for a new boiler, it sounds like. Someone needs to rescue the ol' girl out of the pasture!
