Default Rumely Information Wanted

recently I have been working on a personal project gathering as much information as I can on the early "prairie tractors". And have found a particularly large interest In the Rumely company of La Porte Indiana.

so far what I have is 3 copies of the oil pull magazine

volume 4 number 3 April 1926
volume 4 number 5 June 1926
and volume 6 number 6 July 1928

a match book from the rumely hotel (the building still exists and it now apartments 800 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, IN 46350)

and have found that the following patents were issued to rumely

627,532 646,708 665,270 692,913 694,496 720,486 740,695 747,231 812,529 816,823 818,711 818,718 841,819 841,832 1,050957 1,054,262 1,055,042 1,055,084 1,055,085 1,060,089 1,069,751 1,090,133 1,090,134 1,104,934 1,104,957 1,105,003 1,109,986 1,126,288 1,132,139 1,137,390 1,139,289 1,142,793 1,142,877 1,145,990 1,146,316 1,147,800 1,150,247 1,151,988 1,154,630 1,157,868 1,166,457 1,170,069 1,177,812 1,187,577 1,189,378 1,189,425 1,202,947 1,206,491 1,215,372 1,238,102 1,289,462 1,300,392 1,333,135 1,421,834 1,436,690 1,440,555 1,446,484 1,447,266 1,451,406 1,453,525 1,463,568 1,463,593 1,467,802 1,480,959 1,512,952 1,559,541 1,570,709 1,577,371 1,582,277 1,582,660 1,596,128 1,598,234 1,599,196 1,602,516 1,614,964 1,629,000 1,631,537 1,671,396 1,713,291 1,750,453 1,768,645 1,776,408 1,785,501 1,799,306

if anybody has more information on the company or copies of the rumely magazine I would be highly interested in seeing them.

thank you

I'm glad to see you interested in Rumely, a great old former company. You can buy some of this on Ebay, just search. Power From Oil is a good one on Ebay now:

I just now bought a different one for a gift from Ebay.

Have a good Winter.

Rumely Collector's News was a first class magazine put out by Scott Thompson in the 1990s and early 2000s. Perhaps back copies show up on ebay?

I have the back copies of Rumely Collectors News from issue #1. I will sell them all if you are interested. Send me an email and we'll figure something out.

I lost interest in the club when they pulled the little stunt on the detailed 30-60 E model.

Not going to try to change your mind about the problem with the model (at least everyone got their money back).

But, Scott Thompson's magazine and the Rumely collector's club are two different things, independent of one another.

Well said Mr. Myrkle!!

The 30-60 E toy was a bona-fide attempt at raising funds for the 2003 Rumely Expo in Wauseon by the executives of the Rumely Club at that particular time.

My brother and I both invested in this endeavour at $1.30+ CDN/$1 USD at Rumely Expo 2002 in Milton.
We were fully reimbursed for the original US purchase price a few years later.
Unfortunately the CDN $ had strengthened and we lost some money, but so be it.

There were a number of reasons for the failure of the project which I am not privy to, but, I do know that nobody lost MORE than a couple of guys who put their heart and soul into it.

Sorry to derail the original intent of this thread, but, I KNOW that the project was started with best of intentions for the benefit of the Rumely Collectors Group and was definitely not a "LITTLE STUNT" by any particular person or the group as a whole!!!!!!

Sincerely
Ross Clarke

The link below should take you to the Iron Age Magazine web site and show Scott Thompson's book on the Rumely company.
It is a comprehensive history of Rumely and the various other companies that got swallowed up by them.

http://www.ironagemag.com/iron_age_advertising.htm

The following links will take you to a few threads with links to very early publications put out by Rumely.

These are just a few I found, if you search on threads by Tractor Dom you will probably find more.
