Phil-Post 19: That's the way to repair cast iron. I've done it a little on a manifold. Heat it in a charcoal fire, weld and then bury everything in wood ashes. It's hot work!

Phil Johnson, Norm Johnson and Aultman Taylor; If anyone of you guys ever worked on a Allis Chalmers model " L " built between 1922 & 1927 you would have ran into bolts and nuts that are also WHITWORTH. I ran into that back in 2009 -2011 when I was reworking my " L " Allis Chalmers, I too was a little puzzeled as to what was going on. Brake out the metics and all sizes of adjustables. Keep us posted on this project. Roger Weinhold AKA Charlie 1925.

Not a problem here, Charlie as I also play with old Brit sports cars so have a pretty complete set of whitworth tools, wrenches and sockets.

As for Allis 'L', I have had the chance to work on one that a friend had here for a while. There are three in this area that I am aware of.

Since restoring the Avance tractor I have gained several spanners and sockets with measurements in 32 nds and these do fit the odd ones in between metric and imperial in 16 ths. keep up the good work
