Though I haven't been there in years I believe the Hays truck museum in Woodland CA has or had a Samson truck at one time.

Fresh Trash!!! All I need now is a CB and a monkey, we will be East bound and down! Without Kevin R's help this one could have easily eluded my rust-stained grasp.

My father-in-law in NW Illinois has a pair of Model M's. One is a 1919 and the other is a 1920. We picked them up from an old farmer in eastern Iowa last year.

Those are some very interesting tractors. I have never seen a governor setup like that on a Samson, I am thinking it is an add on but it is an interesting add on. Also never seen the open rear wheel design like one of your tractors has. I too own a Samson model M. There is a registry being kept on them and there were about 120 tractors on the list that are known to exist yet but I would guess that there are still a few out in hiding.

They are both flyball governors. I have pictures of them with the caps taken off somewhere. We are going to try to get them running this spring. I have studied the operator manual and plan to lubricate everything before we even attempt to get them going.

The one with the open wheels appears to have been modified long ago. Someone used a torch to cut the original rims but did a pretty clean job of modifying them. I'll start a new thread with pictures once we're working on them.

According to the Samson Model M website, the belt-driven governor was an option. I have no idea if these are the right governors or if they were repurposed from something else.

As seen at Ridgefield, Washington, A tractor made by the Samson Iron Works with a Samson Gas Engine of 7x9 capacity at 450 rpm. It sports an Atwater Kent ignition inside the battery box.

I know a collector that has 3 of them in poor condition. One with a Buick engine in it, if I remember correctly.

Thought I'd add my Samson M to the mix. I picked it up in a trade last summer. It's a runner, tho I haven't tried starting it yet. Want to give it a good inspection before doing so.

Figured I may as well link this page here as it fits in, being a Line-Drive Samson.

That way if anything should happen to get added to my thread later on it's all accessible here as well, keeping everything together.
