Default Air 30, 400 watt wind generator.

Does anyone work on Air 30's? I was given this one and it will not come out of regulation mode. the brake kicks in at 6.4 vdc and will not kick out. Not sure where to go with this.

Post some pics of internals. Right off it sounds like a latched SCR.

Okay, while I can't see much very useful on such small shots, one thing I see is three slip rings in the head. Which means not all is lost if you have to discard stock controller. I count twelve poles on gen head. Three slip rings sugest a Delta wired alternator. So easy to just build a three phase recifier diode stack and feed output to cheap solar controller board. Google three phase recification for circuit. Dealextreme (dx.com) has cheapo solar controllers. I paid about $15 for a 30Amp from them.
Optimum would of course be to fix stock controller, as solar controller won't provide for braking.

Okay, I will look into that, that is good information. IF I have to I will buy a replacement controler. Wind out here is really hard some days. The unit needs to brake.

Breaking is easy as its wild 3 phase coming down with out controller. Just get your self a 3 pole breaker and add a feed off that ever your bridge rectifyer setup.
Run the feed into top of breaker and then jumpers on bottom to the other phases.
Throw the breaker and brake is on.
