Acquired this summer and on the mend/light duty i took photos of some stuff.

These are my favorite! I have something like 25 of them. Ranging from 1/6 - 10 hp.

Thank you for saving this one! Looks to be in nice shape.

There are a few of us that collect them that I know of, not sure if there are any other collectors here on the Stak.

They usually need a bit of commutator service by the time you get them. Pushing 100 years old!

best motor out there. i have several, some century & then others, peerless & GE just to name a few.

A buddy of mine has a "5 HP" version that was removed from the ventilation fan of a school because it "was drawing too many amps and must be inefficient." The new 5HP motor lasted something like 15 minutes until it burned a winding. So the 5 HP was replaced with 7.5 HP. That one lasted a couple of days. In the end, it had to be replaced with a 10 HP motor that drew exactly the same amount of amps... Go figure!

The old "5 HP" Century had run like that 24-7 for ~70 years on 110V power...

It is now running a dandy air compressor...

like everything else they were built to last and service, I've worked on 90 year old motors in service every day...new stuff crappppp...
