today I ran 3 of my ccks.. contractor series 5.0 120/240, my 120 only that I made a cart from out of a junked Honda gen cart.. and a 4.0 cck..

I ran the 4.0 cck for about an hour with a 2500 watt load.. and the other two for about 30 mins.. had the day off and its been awhile..

the contractor model cck hadn't been run in about 2 months and fired on the 3rd pull with full choke.. had to run it on choke for a few min till all the new gas went through the carb. once loaded it ran perfect.

Had a mild cold front blow through with winds of up to 50 mph around 3pm. There were about 15,000 customers without power in the greater Houston area at the peak and they are down to 3000 customers as of 9:30 pm. I had to go dig the old trusty 5.0CCK out of the shop and hook it up to the N/G. We have been on Onan power since about 5:30 pm and according to the power company's website, we will probably be on Onan power until 1:00 am. I had replaced the condenser the last time it ran a couple of months ago as it had started to randomly misfire. It has not missed a beat since I fired it up. After today, I might be able to pick-up anothere Onan without the wife fussing.

Interesting fuel canister, how much does it hold?
The shop looks clean, and I don't see any of the other 50 you have, where are you hiding them?

that's a pre mix 5 gallon soda canister, but holds close to 6 gallons.. the others are locked up in the basement away from prying eyes...

Today I was doing seasonal maintenance of my generators in the garage.

First was the China junkerator, Champion 4000 watt. Tis junkerator is about a year old, used only 4 times ort less, and the threaded gas cap was stripped which made it nearly impossible to remove the gas cap. I had to use channel lock pliers to forcefully remove the cap. The gas in the tank was about 6 months old. I started it and the motor was constantly surging even after refreshing the gas. Pure China SHIT!! I wanted to hang the p.o.s. China junkerator from a tree and beat it like a piñata .

Second, I fired up my 1953 vintage 12 kw gasoline Westinghouse generator (fully restored in 2000). It ran great (as always) and had the same gasoline in it as was in the China junkerator. Anyway, I first drained old gas from the tank then poured about a pint of fresh gas in the tank before firing it up to let it go through the system, then turning off the gas valve to the carb and letting the engine run until it died from fuel starvation. The pain in the ass thing about this genset is I have to start it with a rope. There is no electric start. Luckily is always starts on the first or second pull .

Third, I fired up the Onan 15.0 JC on propane. It sounded great and ran very healthy, unlike the China junkerator. Since my JC ran on vapor, there was no fussy with removing old gasoline. Also, since it is electric start, one flip of the toggle switch is all it takes. Love it !

If you carefully remove all the gas and oil out of the china junkerator they do make a reasonable boat anchor , long as you attach the chain to the frame and not one of the weaker parts. Cheers Dan
