In defense of the Junkerators: I do have a Champion 3100 inverter unit that has treated us pretty well. We use it at the track since our propane generator eats more propane than we can carry. Under low loads it purrs and uses hardly any fuel. It can power one air con in the motorhome and a couple other things if you are thrifty about it. Second pull as a rule, but frankly it never sits more than two weeks without use. A long weekend will put 50 hours on easily. This is the second season on it. I can't complain for the money. The track neighbors even comment on how quiet it is. The non inverter styles seem very loud IMO though.

finished the cart for the djb.. of course I had to do a stress test on the lifting hook.. no flying onan... the lift bar is removable at the bottom.

You have to remember, the little China junkerator is a lot more thrifty with gasoline then the old Westinghouse. Smaller engine, smaller carburetor passages that clog up quicker, and even when running correctly they run lean to meet today's emission regulations. It's probably a good idea to run the carburetor dry, then drop the fuel bowl to get the last bit out if possible.

Last Saturday, I powered my entire house for several house with the 4 CCK. The fridge and freezer cycled many times without incident, and the microwave oven worked fine. We also ran the dishwasher and did the laundry.

The only glitch was at startup of the clothes dryer. Even though it's a gas dryer, the motor surge at startup make the lights flicker and the TV reboot. After a fraction of a second, the CCK's governor responded, and everything returned to normal.

Had to shut down when my wife wanted to use the electric oven. I know the CCK is too small to run that.

Overall a successful test.

Meant to say I powered my house for several HOURS. FYI, I do have a proper inlet and transfer switch. No backfeeding allowed!

About a 6kw load

Not endorsing any candidate BUT I will take the money

changed the fuel filters on my djb today.. had to bleed #1 a few times to keep it from surging while pulling a 2500 watt load..

after that... I did a full load test on the 6.0 djb.. 4000 watts on the load bank.. pushing 48 amps or so.. and 16 amps, 1890-2000 watts on a little heater and 500 watt light.., 6000 watts 64 amps for about 2 min.. than ran it at 3000 watts and 24 amp load for 20 min

I realize that is bad for it.. and kind of feel stupid for doing it now, putting my cherry djb at risk (but I do have another good djb yd gen end that came from another diesel, that had a junk engine... but I didn't break anything or let the magic smoke out.. and I wont ever pull that many amps with it again, as I plan to install two inline 25 amp breakers and use a factory contractor series outlet box I have, with 4 3 prong 20 amp outlets and two 30 amp 3 prong twist outlets, I will probably wire one for 120 v and the other for 240 volts.

smoked a little for a min and cleared up.. was brave and flipped the switches on two more 1000 watt heaters and 14 more amps and it groaned and smoked but pulled the load.. I only ran it like that for 10 seconds or so.., just enough time for me to look at the voltage gauge.. at 117 or so.. and to see how much smoke was coming from the exhaust..

Soo it pulled a 8000 watt, 76 amp load for 10 seconds.. no breakers.. has a 8g (each wire) 4 wire, 2 Load wires, ground and neutral to a 30 amp 3 prong outlet.. to a 10 g 4 wire 25 foot extension cord with (4) 3 prong 20 amp outlets..

talk about overloading it.. but it did it. I let it run for another 15 min with a 1000 watt 10 amp load, the two 500 watt flood lights for a cool down.

Lister that sounds great on the load, speaking about sounding great how was the neighbor? You could always send a potato or 3 his way and say you were quieting down the set.

lol no neighbors came out to phrase my pretty onan.. and yeah I have it on cl for 1000.. I have 2 more so.. no calls yet.. but that's ok someone will have to actually appreciate it before I sell it to them even for 1000 bucks..

I figure that's a fair price as I see mep 002s for 1500 to 2800..
