Default Ottawa Caretaker /HELEN S MYERS

It is with sadness that I report the death of Helen Myers, Pa. on June 9,2012 after a struggle with her disease.
She was well known with her husband George for adapting the name of "Ottawa Caretakers" to everyone in engine land. Services are over so pray for George & remember Helen in your thoughts & prayers. We were fortunate to have known them about 30 yrs and will really miss her at shows.

She will surely be missed here. I met them at Chambersburg show probably 1974 or 5. They don't come any better than George and Helen.

Being a fellow Ottawa collector they were great friends. Were always willing to help out with questions and problems. George made top notch repro parts for our brand. She was a gem of a lady and will leave a hole in everyone's heart who knew her. All the best to George with his loss and his recovery from his health problems.

I never met Helen but felt as though I knew her following endless emails when restoring my Ottawa. Her help was immense with a superb knowledge of the engine and she will be sadly missed. My thoughts are with George at this sad time.

This is so sad,
Another great one gone on to the next life.
I sure hope George recovers.

This news I read on the SEL and it prompted me to get back to the 4 HP Footed Base Ottawa Farm Engine that Helen dated for me at Circa 1911.
I hope I have enough of the right parts because I would like to build a cart for it and make it a runner at Buckley next week.

I have met both her and George when they were able to come down to the the power of the past antique engine & tractor show held every sept. in Ottawa, KS.

In fact I was able to interview them for the DVD that we made for the club that runs the show.

Great people, they will be missed at the Ottawa Show this year.

Any one have a report on how George is doing? I sent him a card at Christmas but haven't had any reply. Hope all is better for him.

George is focusing on getting his colonosco-thingy reversed, now.
