I have 2 sets of prints. I may sell one set. Got to keep the other set just in case I finish my Holt engine or sell it. It is over 80% done.

All;
I am new to machining, but not engines, is the Holt Engine something a beginner could Tackle? If not would it be possible to get a copy of a set of Drawings as I want to make one out of wood, Ido detail woodwork and furniture building and i am a Holt nut, I am also looking for a set of Holt 75 Drawings

Best regards

Hi Eric,
It's certainly not something that a beginner would want to tackle. As far as making one from wood you would be better off making one from photos as the model engine isn't an exact copy.

I decided that the construction method for the main bearing machining was crude to say the least but with the way that it was cast you didn't have much choice.

Wire EDM! is the best way to get the main bearings cut!

George, your Holt engine is nice looking, but not by any means a exact copy. You took the easy way with a cnc made split crankcase & many of the parts are made with bar stock. That makes it easy to hold each part as it is machined. When built from a casting kit, the parts are much harder to hold in place too machine. No easy flat surface to start with. The looks is nice but far from the model engine it is modeled after.

As Mike N stated the main bearing construction is crude and somewhat inaccurate to say the least. That was the reason for me making mine with split crankcases.
John, I didn't design the engine but rather built it to the drawings. Whenever a miniature engine is built there has to be some liberties taken to make it work. The original Holt probably had a magneto on it and there certainly wouldn't be any way to replicate that on this size engine.
