this is the engine i put a JD piston and rod in runs really good NOT BAD FOR A 14YR OLD TO DO. i know its a commonly seen engine but i did this to prove a poin

kevin my dad got the call from a guy that just had his dad pass away he knew we were into old engines (it was only down the rode 4mi) when we got there the head of the engine was facing the sky and the flywheels were sunken into the ground half way we think the water was able to drain down the cylindar that way.

Good for you Alex. Thanks for the pictures and the story!
It would look good painted up, but the finish it has can't really be duplicated very easily. I'd be tempted to run it "as is" and you'd probably get more interest. That dirt/water line tells a story that shiny paint cannot, and will generate interest for sure.

kevin i left the engine as it looks in the picture it ran most of the time at midwest oldthreshers. thats how they looked in the old days no one bothered to wipe them off like we do today.
