Default Sears and Roebuck Generator 1936

My new toy. The engine is a 1936 Briggs and Stratton, Mo-A. The generator is a Sears and Roebuck 500 watt, Catalog # 2115. The generator has 3 wires coming out of it. 2 of the wires are the output wires and one of the wires is a return to to the commutator for regulation. The part that does the regulation is missing and I am not sure how this is done. Guessing I would think it is a resistor or a capacitor. If anyone has any information or suggestions please let me know.

Harry
