Here is the link to where i used to buy PC x86 parts, they had the best range and prices over here.
See how they compare ( like for like ) with your prices, the dollar amounts are in Aud it was parity but now is 0.91c to one Aud.
So will be a little less than listed amount.

If you want to compare items you need to research part items, especially Motherboards, what slots you get/ how many/ hd out bus speed etc. Also helps you figure out what parts plug up or don't.

I bought a HP laptop back in May of this year. I tried 8, hate it. I restored the laptop back to "out of the box" factory default, boxed it back up and threw it under the bed. It can sit there until a better system comes along as far as I'm concerned. It's a very nice laptop but it's damned with a joker environment. To me 8 is nothing but an overgrown phone app.

I'll give it a try when I get home. I figure I've got nothing to lose, so why not. If it makes it easier I'll be very glad. That new laptop wasn't a cheapo...Thanks!

Finally back home after close to a month away on the job. Dragged that new HP laptop out from under the bed and did the setup song & dance. Downloaded the "Start Menu 8" app. Its better, I like so far. Thanks DB and Craig for the tip. I did not like the P.O.S. "Metro" start page with all it's floating phone app crap. I'm glad I don't have to see it when booting up now. I still don't like the idea of having to log in with an email address and password. To me that's obnoxiously proprietary and intrusive. But..I'm willing to give this thing a try. If I like it, good. If not, I'll shop around for a better environment to replace the windows 8.

UPDATE: I found the way to sign on without a MS email & password. I've got this thing tweaked and tuned to a state I can live with for now. Time will tell whether I keep it or not.

Brian.....you don't have to login.......at all.
Clear the login fields and it should boot directly to the, now, good old fashioned desktop.......

Hi Friends!
I resolved my Windows 8 issue tonight once and for all. I gave the laptop to my son. I'm going to wait and see what the comes along next. I want a sensible laptop computer, not a overgrown cell phone. The HP laptop I gave to him is very nice. However, I had really grown to dislike it because no matter what I could do, 8 was still in there. That's what turned me against it. A Linux Ubuntu or Linux Mint OS based machine is starting to sound appealing. Maybe an Apple or Toshiba set up with it.
