Just plug the GPS into the computer then click up http://support.magellangps.com/suppo...&nav=0,2,16,19

I dunno what the charge for the map updates are but the software and firmware updates are always free.

Not familiar with the magellan software or the online web updating procedure as I have a Garmin.

But,, once you're hooked up, look for a click on command to tell the program to 'Find Device'. Then the program will go looking for the gps on your computer. Still stumped? Open the help menu and try typing find device.

*Again, I'm not familiar with your setup but that's what I had to initially do with the Garmin program as it also wouldn't work. Once the program finds the unit I was prompted to enter the serial number of the gps. Once that was done, updates and upgrades were effortless.
