That is a very common type of cluch pully it could have been used on any early stationary flywheel engine 2hp and up.The IH Titan engines and tractors used a similar pully on them aswell

As it's a Bernard pulley, it was made in Fortierville, Quebec. These were a favourite on the Desjardins' & are seen on many engines coming out of Quebec. I have one on my Robertsonville engine. I have seen them on Gilson, Stover, etc ; whatever jobbers were selling engines out of Quebec. This snippet for some history: "In the village, small shops developed and, later, the Bernard foundry, which opened its doors in 1908. This was an important employer for the village (for engineers, mechanics, day labourers). Bernard Industries was not only a foundry but also an iron works factory and a woodshop. After settling in Fortierville, Adélard Bernard experienced years of prosperity and contributed to the village's progress. Unfortunately, following a fire in 1923, the factory closed its doors for good in 1924." Also, Fortierville is the town where the martyred child, Aurore Gagnon was from....an infamous tragedy.

Bernard is from origine French.
Have an line engines and pumps from them and also from our own family farms with the original old litrature. They made very good engines and pumps and very reliable. In the 70’s them made the golden engine and pump to jump over with an jubilieum edition in an coorperation towards in arm of Renault. In the early days we drove an lot with Renault cars aswel. For us in the time very reliable aswel. We went with the horses to the old horse fairs in Germany, Belgium and Holland with trailer behind it.... ![]() So we have very good memories and feelings towards Bernard and Renault... ![]() |

Aurore's father was employed at the Bernard's foundry. Besides clutch pullies seen on various engines, Bernard for a time built the "BEBE" engines that were similar but not identical to the Maytag engines of the early twenties.
