Awesome, Thanks! I was curious, is the frame on your 40b all black with yellow woodwork, or was the entire thing slathered in yellow paint?

I'm going to say the floorboards are at a 3 degree angle. I'm working on making new front floorboard supports and will confirm once I have the old one drawn up.

On this car I appears that the frame, seat top and outside floorboard side were yellow. The rest of the wood was painted brown. The framework has been painted a few times and occasionally the base coat in some areas contradict other areas on the same part.

My other car had a red frame and green wheels from the factory, which sounds terrible. The N&W painted it all yellow at some point.

Thanks for the pictures! All I need now is the length, width and height at the short end, if you can. Also, I'd like to know what the length of the notch at the outer end is (where the nut goes for the side rave). Can't tell you how much help you've been! The top of the car is almost done, and I made up a magneto shield this weekend. Pics to come!

Cool! Finally I have a use for the protractor I've had since middle school. Wish I had a copy of that sales flyer. I've got a copy of about every other sales brochure, but most have fairly poor resolution due to age.

Drawings of the front floorboard support and the front toeboard are attached.

The support drawings are based on an average of the two supports from my car. The toeboard is based on the existing holes and old photos, as my cars are both missing this part. You may need to modify hole locations as you see fit.

3/8" holes use 5/16" carriage bolts. 7/16" holes take 3/8" flat head carriage bolts (I'm currently looking for a source for this hardware).

I actually just made some brake shoes for this thing (pics to come). Looks like a trip to the lumberyard is needed.

Got some of the brake parts put together from steel stock, and carved out some shoes. I doubt they'll last long, but they make good patterns. As far as those "flat-head carriage bolts", I'm pretty sure those are just elevator bolts. Also, a picture of the front deck section painted up.

Right now I'm trying to finish up the brake assemblies (having to make everything from scratch takes some time). However, I would like to know what the dimensions for the toolbox are. Can't wait to see the results of your rebuild!

Finished the brake rigging today. All four wheels have steel shoes riding against the wheels for solid stopping power. Tomorrow I'll have an opportunity to test out the car under it's own power, which should be fun. Eventually everything will be painted, though. More to come!

As promised, new pictures. I had to attach the front top deck section in order to move the car around as it holds the main control levers. I've also begun cutting the side deck supports out from a long board I had handy. So far, they seem to match up nicely. I should have them all done by next week and ready for the foot boards! I do, however, need the dimensions of those boards, in particular the length from end to end. More progress soon!

I managed to complete all six of the deck supports, although I haven't drilled all of the holes in them yet. I have prepared two of the three boards on the right hand deck, and hopefully by tomorrow I'll have the third board ready to install.

More progress! Both decks are nearing completion, minus some bolts and a few coats of paint. After these are finished, I'll put the tool tray and tool box together. Still a long ways to go though!

Got a little more done, but I'm starting to run out of time for this project. I'm hoping to have it done fairly soon. Both decks are painted and in place (although I don't have a picture of that), and the tool tray is under construction.
Hopefully by next week I'll have all the major woodwork done, then I can finish off the electrical system.

The tool tray is done and the toolbox has been assembled (sans latch and lock for the moment). The gas tank has been strapped on to the rear seat top section, but I'm waiting for some new paint on the frame to dry before attaching it. The wiring will be one of the final items on the list, and I still don't have the necessary material to make the two engine guards just yet. More to come!

Progress! Found some steel to make engine shields out of today and I managed to put one together. Still needs a little tweaking before painting, and then I can make another for the other side. Also got the latch and lock on the toolbox (a period Illinois lock) and got the gas tank situated. Need to get some copper fuel line for that soon. Tomorrow I'm hoping to work on the electrical system like I've been talking about for the last week.

So I managed to get both engine shields constructed and partially painted. The electricals on the other hand.....well, they got left out again. I realized too late that I didn't have any appropriate wire connectors and had to settle at mounting the two knife switches on the seat top. Really gotta stop by the hardware store!

Using some leftover oak pieces I've managed to assemble a little battery box to put under the operator's seat. It has an old ammeter on the front, and will eventually have a lid with two wing nuts for power terminals. There will be handles on the ends for carrying it off to power something else if so desired (I bought the battery for my Fairmont M19 anyways). I'll also paint it hunter green to match. The second coat on the engine shields came out well, save for a few alligator-ed spots. Unfortunately, due to time constraints I will not be able to take the car out for a spin for several months. Right now college is more important than personal projects, as much as I don't like to admit it.
