Default What's Happened To Google Advanced Search?

For years, researching old engines etc on Google Advanced Search brought up period trade journal entries via GoogleBooks...
Today entering Sterling Engine Co and Sterling Engine Company in "exact phrase" brings up nothing but contemporary hits---not a single hit from the The Automobile or other period (teens) journals that contain numerous items...
The numbering system for the number of pages available is now different from normal search pages shown--the page numbers are widely spread pages 1 to 5 or so...l
Has Google divorced Googlebooks form their advanced search??
Has the procedure changed, and I'm missing a step??
Is something internal scrambling my set? (all other sites seem normal...)...

They are always tweeking.. The first search only gives the most common (popular) and sponsored links On the first results page, you can refine them by categories - News, Maps, Shopping, Images, and More..... Clicking on "More" offers up Videos, Books, Flights, and Finance...

At the bottom right corner there are three click buttons.
One of them is SETTINGS.
Click that and the Advanced button shows up...….

Fascinating...
(1) on my first page of results from advanced search I don't find any "more", but I did note, at the bottom, "some results removed"---???
Hit that and a page comes up about how Bing reports search results---what he *#!! is Bing???
Will research Bing and see how that got in; it's probably my problem...
(2) I get exactly the same advanced search page by going thru "settings" as I do by just typing in advanced search in theGoogle search box...

Well, it appears Bing is a Microsoft kind of parasite search engine that piggybacks on other items, fastens itself into your computer and diverts any search engine request thru itself...
On my set I get the Google page, but get results thru Bing; same with going to Bing, requesting google, them using google--still comes thru Bing...
Web says quite difficult to uninstall, and has habit of reinstalling itself after being uninstalled; uninstalling looks beyond my expertise as apparently sometimes requires rejiggering everything. Looks like a call to my computer Guru is in order...

Which categories appear (and their order) are different with each search, depending on the results.
"Sterling Engine Company" vs "Michelson interferometer" - the latter produces Images, Video, Books, shopping,....

Many thxx for replies...
Assuming Bing must've infected many sets, Googled delete bing from firefox and several brief easy-looking items came up...
Will try some on these suggestion later this PM, after computers caught up, in case I wind up offline...
