Default Kelly & Lewis Brand Names

Like other manufacturers, they supplied engines under various brand names. I am looking for confirmation of a few. If you have an engine of this brand and the serial number, I can then look up who used that name. What I would like to know is if these brands were actually written on the engine, or just used in advertising. Thank you for any help.

Baltic, Co-op, Diabolo, Pera, Simplex, Simplex Challenger.

Eric (That is my name, not a brand of engine)

Scotty, although I appreciate the effort you have put into your reply, you missed the point of my question. I am after information on the brand names I listed, not the obvious ones.

On another forum I have now learned that Baltic Simplex used Simplex Challenger on diesel engines as well as petrol ones. Was there ever one branded just Simplex?

Eric

Well then. Your only after Baltic, Co-op, Diabolo, Pera, Simplex and Simplex Challenger. So too bad if you've missed any, even if obvious, then huh?

We have a Baltic with Baltic cast into it. But it was made by Barlow so still no good to you.

Cheers Scott

A bit more about brand names.

The only surviving production records of Kelly & Lewis engines that I know of are the brief test records. In these records they give the name of the engine buyer only, not the buyers brand name. What’s more, the engine buyer was sometimes just one word. An example is ‘Simplex’. Is this Baltic Simplex, Simplex Baltic, or Simplex Seperator Co? Then there are customers like the Diabolo Seperator Co, Pera Seperator Co, Waugh & Josephson, etc. Did they resell these engines under their own brand name or KL?

Listed below are at least some of the brand names I have put together. LKG were not customers of KL. The engines were Bartram BW’s, rebadged for the LKG milking machines that Bartrams sold.

Baltic Simplex - Simplex Challenger
Bartram & Son - Bartram
Buzacott & Co - ?
Clutterbuck Bros - New Clutterbuck
Dalgety & Co - Triumph
Dangar Gedye & Malloch - Volunteer
Diabolo Seperator Co - ?
Gippsland & Northern - Co-op
HV McKay - SMH
JH Horwood - Horwood
Lawrence-Kennedy-Gillies - LKG
Moffatt Virtue - Moffatt Virtue
Pera Seperator Co - ?
Ruston & Hornsby - Hornsby
Simplex Milking Machine Co - Diabolo, I think
Waugh & Josephson - ?
Wheeler & Mathews - Serviceplus
? - Baltic
