I believe it was a 218 you tell by the length of the head from front to back but I seem to remember it was the smaller of the two

Yep, probably is. At the moment, it's showing fair compression on all six. I imagine the valve seats are cruddy, perhaps a good horse-flogging will clear 'em out, if not, I'll pop the head off and give it a thorough valve-job, but not 'till after I can get it inside a heated, well illuminated shop. For the time being, it's in a cold storage building and out of the elements, gotta get some more-pressing-issues under control, and most of 'em are winter-type-related. It will growl and weld next summer!!!!

That WAS my news... just posted it yesterday! ;-) Got my hands full with house-type repairs for a while, and christmas, and new-year's, and more company assignments, so not gonna get it into the warm-dry shop 'till springtime for certain.
