Photo What is it? Forge Blower Drive

Any answers. Was thinking gold fields winch or water maybe?? Has a ratchet & counter weight setup.

Could wish for better pics of center section, but think you nailed it with winlass of some sort. Looks to be missing parts. My first thought was mechanism for drilling wells.

Hello all
Yep, some better pictures of the middle would be nice. Is that a brake band you can see on the pulley in the 1st and 3rd picture? Is it worked by the counterweight and that lever?
Very interesting.

Thanks Eric, was told by a local bloke after posting that it could have been used to work the bellows. Very interesting I’d never seen one before. Any pics of a complete one around, would good to see? It was picked up by a mate in Kilkivan QLD west of Gympie.
