"So here's something I don't know and would like to know. What happens to all the stuff when a museum closes?

Cheers Scott"

got this far on the net,
this seems to be an effort of due process and all by the book etc,
again a bit sad, but this report does have lots of fair and reasonable recommendations:

cheers Rodney

Hi Rodney, et al,
The Museum mentioned in the article I believe has now closed.

Quite a significant amount of items have been relocated to the now Loxton Museum of Agricultural Technology. Other items of interest have been distributed to other like minded groups.
But I do stand to be corrected.

As for the aforementioned subject, I'm still trying to make contact.
I may have to risk life and limb in my decrepit four wheel death trap and make the journey to see for myself.

Hi Darly was not me and nev, although that Fiat is a bit incriminating.
Back to the topic. I hope all items have been saved. I know with National Trust museums it is part of the constitution that items are first offered to other National Trust museums if not interested then offered to any other like minded organisations if still not interest they can disperse items as they see fit whether thru an auction, private sales or even heaven for bid the tip. Most other museums have it in the constitution that if they wind up there collection will be distributed to other like minded organisations.
Not all museums have followed these rules in the past but we are working on improving these matters. We are starting to try and get all regional museums in SA to work together a lot better to prevent anything like this incident that Jayvee has mentioned.

Regards,
Nathan
