Default Jensen 75 retrofit with BIX 030 120mm burner

I recently purchased a BIX 030 burner kit with disposable type tank valve and a couple feet of small diameter copper tubing.
One end plumbed as an adjustable gas jet and finger tight connection to the tank valve on the other.

Getting the clearance to keep the boiler above the flame required removing the original fuel tray bottom and spreading the fuel tray sides apart as shown.

I had to cut away a 1/2" wide slot in the front of the firehouse to accommodate the burner mixer. A small Dremel drum sander made the semi circle bottom opening.
The material removed from the top of the firebox opening is unnecessary.
It's from an earlier, unsatisfactory attempt to fit the burner on the original fuel tray.

I'm happy to report the new configuration allows me to run the dynamo and LED street lamp very brightly, holding 17 psi like it was nothing.

Regards,
Mike

Be careful. Those gas burners get hot enough to melt soft solder even with water on the other side. Keep it on low.

No worries, Lester. All Jensen boilers beyond the riveted era are silver soldered. I’ve picked up engines in the past with boilers that were blue from dry heating and suffered no damage.

Mission accomplished - Heat to Light with a Jensen 75 and Buehler motor/generator.
Thanks to the SmokStak input along the way.
