Default Cummins C-180 Parts

Hello!
I am new to Smokstak and in need of some assistance. We have a mid 1960s C-180 Cummins in need of a rebuild or replacement. This is a 464 cubic inch, 6 cylinder, supercharged, wet sleeve engine with Cummins PT fuel system. We require pistons, rings, sleeves, main and rod bearings and all applicable gaskets to repair our engine. If parts are ultimately unavailable a partial or whole replacement will be our route. Here in Ontario Canada sources are somewhat limited, a friend of mine is a mechanic who worked at Cummins in Mississauga for some time and so far he can't find anything. Any help making contacts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Ben D

I have a crane with an JN-6 in it, it came with a complete overhaul book for the C and J series engines, in the book there was several notes listing places for engines or parts here is one of them

Cummins sold all of its C-series-specific parts stock to SR Sales. http://srsales.com/

You can create an account for free and search their inventory. If you find parts in stock, you can then email them for a quote.

Speaking from experience, take close look at the liner counterbores in the block, especially the lower counterbore. They're prone to wear and cavitation. If there's damage, you'll need to repair which is (obviously) an additional cost.

There used to be a large number of these engines still in Texas in oil & gas applications, and many shops that supported them. The engines are quickly disappearing but there may be some other hope of finding parts sources there.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

There was a company in Long Beach CA that was a good source of parts for the C & J engines. Apparently there was a lot of them used in fishing boats, I'll see if I can find the number.
I had the misfortune of nursemaiding a C175 along in an old Galion grader for years...damn, I got tired of balancing on top of the tires & torquing the head & setting the valves & injectors on that ol' pig...

Funny, there is a similar Smokstak thread from 2010, another guy looking for C/J parts and, ronm, here’s your reply then.

Ha! Thanks, Steve, you saved me from having to dig out my old address book! At least I remembered there was such a place. . .
The guy who owned the grader got an overhaul kit and a rebuilt head from them no problem.

Edit: I clicked the link in the old post & it's no good any more...googling west coast diesel brings up a bunch of different things, including a strain of weed by that name...

Just thought of another weird thing about those engines...when I was working on the C175, there was one bad pushrod, the ball end had come loose. Injector pushrod I think. I decided to take a shot at Cummins, although they had pretty much forgot they ever built those engines. Gave the parts guy the number off the old rod, Lo & behold they had one...when I picked it up, he asked what 1710 I was working on? I told him it's not a 1710, it's a C175...he said wow, I've never sold a part for a C model before. (1710 is a V12...855X2...)
