Found a pair of 6V92 TIAB DDEC marine engines that produce 104 HP per cylinder. They are set up with a intercooler and aftercooler both of which are fresh water cooled. They also have electronic fuel injectors and a bypass blower. Need a replacement turbocharger Detroit part# (23518263) or (23521195). ALClick image for larger version

Wow, that's really something. Would think they would just use an 8V92... Foreign object get in there?

Am getting ready to start work on the 671TA for my bus, and will be looking into improving on the paltry 270 hp it's currently rated at.

How's that 171 coming along?

Keith

They were a special build for Hatteras. Less weight and fit in the engine room better. The turbo failure cause is bit of a mystery. When the new owner took delivery he inherited the problem. Usually caused by a piece of the engine coming out of the exhaust port. Valve or a piece of the piston. All the cylinders are firing and it seems they don`t have pieces missing. Don`t have any history of prior failures or work. The 1-71 is still on the back shelf. I retired 12 years ago but still cant say no to some of my old customers and sometimes a new one. AL
