Default Museum Closes. Sad News!

This is to be Confirmed...

Hi All,
Yesterday I was advised that a community museum (in South Oz) recently closed its doors due to a lack of interest and public support.
The areas local Mens Shed known more for its p**s ups than anything else has taken over the site.
From what I have been told, (this has come from 4 different people) that whilst the group was in a state of drunken stupidity, the engine and steam exhibits plus a couple of vehicles were smashed up with the assistance of several sledge hammers for scrap. (Apparently scrap is now over $100/ton again.)

At time of writing, I have been unable to get any further information.
The contacts I have been given are not answering.

Hoping to learn more.

That is indeed sad news. A, that the museum has closed, B, that a bunch on knuckleheads could have so little regard for the pieces smashed to pieces.

I wonder how the poeple who donated their history to be preserved would feel about that.

That's the trouble when you donate an item to a museum, you generally don't have a say what happens to it.

This story is probably why not many people donate anymore. Simply too many horror stories like this.
I do hope this story is nothing but a rumour.

Cheers Scott

Don't worry FWorth. That's simply some Australians having a dig at each other. A joke so to speak. We all know Nathan would be the last person on earth (nearly) who would take to something with a sledgehammer.
That is the same Fiat though.

So here's something I don't know and would like to know. What happens to all the stuff when a museum closes?

Cheers Scott

While we are waiting for the news......

Here is a sledge hammer I recovered from Vickers - Charles Ruwolt Pty Ltd, whilst working with a scrappie who was cleaning up the site. The handle isn't original but no doubt this thing has been the death of many engines.
