Default Magneto Application IDs

Found several 2 and 4 cylinder magnetos tonight in the shop but we don’t have much experience with them. Wondering if anyone can help us figure out what they all fit:

Simms Type 04
Eiseman 2 cylinder model GL-2H
KW model T 1 cylinder & international 4 cylinder (cant find model)
Another IHC without cap (has F4-321287 in serial no. Block)

The only info on the 2nd mag in the 3rd pic is a 20 stamped in the casting and “patents pending” on a brass tag on one side.

The Eisemann is for a Caterpillar pony motor, the KW is for a one cylinder Mogul, the IHC is an E4A for a Farmall regular, 10-20 15-30 or 22-36 McD
The last one without the cover is an IHC F4 for F-12 F-14 or F-20

It appears to have another number above the hole in your post #2. It is on a raised section of alloy.
Good they have been identified for you too.

The Simms C4 were used on a few engines, depending on the rotation, the 20's Henderson and Ace motorcycles used them.

The model of magneto for the Caterpillar pony motors is a Eisemann GV2Q. The GV2Q was replaced by the RC2Q or RT2Q. A RT2H or RC2H with a horizontal flange mount was used on the D2, D4 and D6 starting engines. An Eisemann GL2 was used on the earliest starting engines.
Thanks
Ken

Hi Ken

When you say earliest starting engines you mean pre-caterpillar?

Thanks for the info.

Jonathan.

No. When I say early earliest starting engines for Caterpillar I am talking the D9900, early D11000, D7700 etc engines. I do not have my parts books here so my serial # breaks may be wrong, for example the Diesel Seventy-Five tractors 2E1 to 2E213 would have used the GL2 magneto. Diesel Seventy-Five tractors after 2E214 would have used the GV2Q magneto
